Sèphera Girón: Biography
Sèphera Girón SÈPHERA GIRÓN was born in New Orleans (a few doors down from Lee Harvey Oswald). In 1967, the Girón family moved to London, Ontario, where her father was a professor at University of Western Ontario in Music History and Theory, and her mother taught piano for the Royal Conservatory of Music.

As a child, she played violin in the London Youth Symphony Orchestra and at the age of fourteen even performed for three weeks in Aberdeen, Scotland, for a World Festival of Youth Orchestras. The trip also included playing a few gigs in London. Once she had children of her own, however, the violin was retired.

As a teenager, she also studied voice, theatre and many styles of dance. While dreaming of either becoming an actress or a writer, she performed in numerous shows such as JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, JOSEPH, MAN OF LA MANCHA, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and CABARET. By the time she decided to go to York University, she realized the struggling life of an actor wasn't for her and chose instead the struggling life of a writer.

She decided to go to York University to major in Creative Writing. Once she arrived, she kept her major in Fine Arts Studies because she enjoyed singing in the choir, dancing, playing the violin, studying screenwriting, theatre and art, as well as writing. Many of her peers thought she was crazy because she wanted to become a horror writer when she grew up.

At York, she met budding film-maker Julian Grant, and they married in 1985. After both had graduated, they had two children, Adrian and Dorian. Sèphera and Julian divorced ten years later. After the split, Sèphera studied tarot counseling, reiki and touch for health, earning certificates in all three subjects.

She met Derek Sullivan in 2002 when he and his friends came to her for a tarot reading in a booth at a local shopping mall. They've been inseparable ever since.

PUBLISHED WORKS

Already inspired by Clive Barker's BOOKS OF BLOOD collections, in the late 1990s Sèphera Girón received the best training any author could hope to have. Fellow Canadian writer Nancy Kilpatrick asked her help co-write two erotic horror novels, THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM and CARMILLA, because she was worried about meeting deadlines. Sèphera readily accepted and has never forgotten her first break, or the on-the-spot training that far exceeded anything she studied in four years of University writing courses.

MISTRESS OF THE DARK

In 2000, the Kansas City small press imprint Darktales published her debut solo novel ETERNAL SUNSET, and around the same time she also sold HOUSE OF PAIN to editor Don D'Auria at New York publishing house Leisure. It appeared the following year, and she has since followed it with THE BIRDS AND THE BEES, BORROWED FLESH and MISTRESS OF THE DARK.

When her agent thought she should make use of her metaphysical background, they sold HOUSE MAGIC: THE GOOD WITCH'S GUIDE TO BRINGING GRACE TO YOUR SPACE, under the author's tarot name, "Ariana", to Conari Books in California.

Her short fiction has appeared in SEX MACABRE, ASYLUM 2, QUEER FEAR 2, R.A.W., HOT BLOOD 11: FATAL ATTRACTION, COLOR OF PAIN SHADE OF PLEASURE and CEMETERY DANCE magazine.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Sèphera Girón is currently working on an erotic vampire novel for the British Neon Books imprint called HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY under her erotic pen name "Jeanne Sullivan".

She is also writing a series of erotic books about a witch who runs a dating service for rich people called MAGIC MATCH. The first book, TREASURE CHEST, concerns a high-maintenance executive woman stranded with a laid-back musician on a desert island. It will be published as an e-book from Tantalizing Tales.com.

Rain Graves and Sèphera Girón are also working on a screenplay project together.
