INGRID PITT with James Herbert INGRID PITT is best known to horror film fans as Hammer Film's "Queen of Horror". Her roles in Sound of Horror (aka El sonido la muerte, 1964), The Omegans (1968), The Vampire Lovers (1970), Countess Dracula (1970), The House That Dripped Blood (1970, in an episode based on Robert Bloch's story 'The Cloak'), The Wicker Man (1973), Artemis 81 (1981), Clive Barker's Underworld (aka Transmutations, 1985), Green Fingers (2000), The Asylum (2000, opposite her daughter Steffanie, who plays the lead), Minotaur (2006), Hammer's Beyond the Rave (2008), Sea of Dust (2009) and the 'Vampirology' episode on the Urban Gothic TV series, have established her as an icon in the horror film genre. Her latest credit is a new version of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart (2009), which marks the last screen appearance of Robert ('Count Yorga') Quarry.

The Polish-born actress' other movie credits outside the horror genre include Where Eagles Dare (1969) opposite Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood, Who Dares Wins (aka The Final Option, 1982), Wild Geese II (1985) and Hanna's War (1988). She has also appeared in many TV shows on both sides of the Atlantic, including Ironside, Jason King, Thriller and Doctor Who, and has toured extensively throughout Britain and South America with her own stage company.

She has written The Ingrid Pitt Bedside Companion for Vampire Lovers, The Ingrid Pitt Bedside Companion for Ghosthunters and The Ingrid Pitt Book of Murder, Torture and Depravity. Additionally, she contributed an Introduction and an original story to The Mammoth Book of Vampire Stories by Women, edited by Stephen Jones, and her autobiography, Life's a Scream, was published by Heinemann in 1999. She was short-listed for the Talkies Awards for her own reading of extracts from the audio book.

Ingrid has also written regular columns in such diverse magazines as Shivers, Motoring & Leisure, TV Film Memorabilia, Micro Mart, Femme Fatales, Bite Me, It's Alive and The Cricketer.

She is currently writing a history of Hammer Films for the studio, to be published in 2010, and has recently completed a Doctor Who script for Big Finish Productions.

At World Horror Convention 2010, Ingrid Pitt will be selling signed copies of her books, photos, DVDs and other memorabilia. There will also be a fee for her to sign items brought into the event. However, she will not charge to sign copies of the convention's souvenir book and The Mammoth Book of Vampire Stories by Women.
