Hearing Impairment
H1—Minimum entry requirements to meet the National Accessible Standards for guests with hearing impairment, from mild hearing loss to profoundly deaf.
H2—Recommended (Best Practise) additional requirements to meet the National Accessible Standards for guests with hearing impairment, from mild hearing loss to profoundly deaf.
Mobility Impairment
M1—Typically Suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but would benefit from points of fixtures and fittings to aid balance.
M2—Typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those who may need a wheelchair some of the time.
M3—Typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair and transfers unaided to and from the wheelchair in a seated position.
M4—Typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair and transfers to and from the wheelchair in a seated position. They also require personal/mechanical assistance to aid transfer (e.g. carer/hoist).

ACCESS STATEMENT
Please find outlined below information we hope will ensure you enjoy your visit to World Horror Convention 2010 at The Royal Albion Hotel, regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment or specific learning difficulty.
Prior to Your Arrival
Enquiries may be made to the hotel by phone, e-mail or fax. Should you require a taxi to the hotel from Brighton Station (1.5 miles), the hotel can contact the local taxi firm to pre-book. Cabs from the station are also readily available that are suitable for wheelchair users, if required. Directions to the Royal Albion can be found on the hotel website.
On Arrival at the Hotel
There is facility for a ramp situated to the left of the front door via the Pavilion Bar at the end of the building. There is a doorbell at the right of the front door if you need assistance with the ramp. The ramp has access through the Pavilion Bar to Reception. There are nearby metered parking spaces. If you hold a disabled Blue Badge, you do not have to pay.
Reception Area
The floor is carpeted throughout and is suitable for wheelchairs. Hotel Reception and Convention Registration are all on one level. The hotel registration card can be placed on a clipboard for ease of use. Reception may, at your request, complete the registration card on your behalf allowing you to add your signature.
Public Areas
The hotel corridors are well-lighted and carpeted throughout, and can be accessed by a lift/elevator suitable for wheelchairs. The hotel's Pavilion Bar area is open-plan and situated on the Reception/Registration level. Jenny's Restaurant is situated on the same level. The restaurant can be accessed via the Reception.
Toilets
A disabled toilet is situated on the lower ground floor via the lift/elevator. The toilets are fitted with pull alarms, which will notify reception if assistance is needed.
Fire Alarms
The Fire alarm system is a bell in the public areas and the bedrooms.
Restaurant
Jenny's Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a buffet self-service for all meals. The restaurant staff will advise of the choices and serve you at the table. All areas are well-lighted and have access to the outside of the building. There is ample moveable seating in the restaurant.
Pavilion Bar
The Pavilion Bar is situated on the level of the Reception/Registration area and affords easy access. A bar snack menu is available during bar opening times, with hot food served until 9:30pm. There is ample moveable seating in the bar. The bar staff will advise of the choices, and serve you at the table.
Accommodation
A limited number of accessible rooms are available on the first floor. Three rooms are fitted with pull-cords in the bathroom for emergency use. The baths have rails. The hand-basins are at a lower level. The toilets have rails. All fittings are situated at a height for ease of use. Bathrooms have hand-rails suitable for wheelchair access. Rooms are situated close to a refuge point suitable for wheelchairs and an outside waiting point. When registering for the convention, please let us know if you require one of these rooms.
Convention Facilities
One of the convention's main programme rooms is situated on the Reception/Registration level. The other programming rooms,
art show and convention bar are situated on the lower ground floor and have direct access from the front of the building via the lift/elevator.
Please note that, due to the age and history of the hotel, access to the Readings room, Dealers' room and some Special Signings may be limited for those with restricted walking ability or who depend on a wheelchair.
